I want you to know exactly who I am.
Not the polished version. Not the one spewing talking points. The real story; where I came from, what I've been through, and why I'm here asking for your trust.
About Me
My name is Jon Carlos Serrano. I grew up in Garfield, New Jersey. I have been in and out of colleges, working consistently on my education while also focusing on my mental health. I work a part-time job that doesn't pay enough. My path hasn't been a straight line. I navigated undiagnosed learning disability that the school system had no patience for. I have survived things that broke parts of me that are still being repaired. When I needed the system, it wasn't there.
That's not a complaint. That's a credential.

It didn't take long for me to catch onto what our government was up to, and I couldn't just sit by and do nothing.
From Ruins to Renewal: A Final Call Resistance, Reform, and Reconstruction is a 241-page political doctrine that examines the systems of power, capitalism, and control shaping American life, offering a concrete blueprint for what a just society could actually look like. I wrote this book as someone who lived the consequences of a failed system and grew tired of watching people across the country, and the world, suffer while I sat behind my phone complaining about how something should be done. So I made this personal. I made it accessible. And I hope that it allows for new perspectives to be expressed, validated, and convince the American population to see the corruption that has had them in a chokehold.
I'm running for New Jersey's 11th Congressional District as an independent because both parties have failed working people, and I am done waiting for either of them to fix it.
I'm no career politician. I don't take corporate money. My loyalty isn't to a party or a donor; it's to the 600,000 people in this district who deserve a representative who actually sounds like them.
My platform is straightforward: healthcare as a right, housing as a right, canceling student debt, living wages, democratic reform, and climate justice. These aren't radical ideas. They are the baseline of a functioning society.
Jersey gave me everything I have. This camaign is my way of giving something back; for all of us.
